Labour Camps in Dubai: Where They Are and How to Choose

Build Well · 25 August 2026

Dubai houses hundreds of thousands of workers in purpose-built labour accommodation, spread across a handful of districts. If your company needs beds, the two questions that matter are where the camp sits relative to your worksites, and how well it is run. This guide maps the main areas and gives you a practical method for choosing between camps.

Which areas of Dubai have labour camps?

The market clusters in a few zones, each with its own character:

The right area is a transport question before anything else: buses cost money and shift hours, so map the camp against your actual worksites. Our post on worker transport costs shows the method.

What should the rent include?

Quotes in this market are only comparable when they include the same things. A genuine all-inclusive rate covers DEWA (water and electricity), air conditioning, sewerage, housekeeping and 24-hour security with CCTV. A cheaper headline with utilities billed separately usually costs more across a Dubai summer, and makes every month's invoice a surprise.

Beyond the rate, look at what daily life includes: proper dining areas, equipped kitchens with gas, dedicated drying areas, coin-operated washing machines, and clean waste handling. Where your workforce includes women, ask specifically about separate buildings — full buildings, not floors.

How do you verify a camp before signing?

Three checks cover most of the risk. First, MOHRE approval — the federal baseline for worker housing; ask for evidence, camp by camp, as our MOHRE guide explains. Second, a site visit at a normal working hour: kitchens, washrooms, corridors and the security post tell the truth quickly. Third, the contract: confirm in writing what the rate includes, the notice terms for adding and releasing beds, and who manages the building day to day.

If you are new to arranging accommodation in the UAE, our PRO's checklist walks through the whole process step by step, and 10 questions to ask any operator gives you the shortlist for meetings.

Frequently asked questions

Which areas of Dubai have labour camps?

The main concentrations are Jebel Ali and its industrial areas, Dubai Investments Park, Al Quoz and Muhaisnah (Sonapur), with newer capacity around Dubai South. Choose by distance to your worksites.

What should labour camp rent include in Dubai?

A genuine all-inclusive rate covers DEWA, air conditioning, sewerage, housekeeping and 24-hour security. Rates that exclude utilities are hard to compare and unpredictable to budget.

How do I verify a labour camp is approved?

Ask the operator for evidence of MOHRE approval and visit in person. Approval is held camp by camp, so never assume it from the area or the marketing.
